Sakuda is a century-old gold leaf craft shop offers guided tours upon request of a gold leaf factory and a museum, and even hosts a gold restroom decorated in gold and platinum.

Tea ceremony & Garden Experience, The Nishida Garden: Gyokusen’en

A strolling garden centered around a pond, Gyokusen’en features a walking path along seasonally flourishing moss and flowers, leading to the Saisetsu Tea House, the oldest in Kanazawa. Participate in the Japanese tea ceremony, learning how to whip green tea with a bamboo whisk, and savoring hot matcha with a traditional Japanese sweet.

Stunning garden and wonderful tea ceremony. Of course Kenrokuen is the big draw, but don’t miss all the hidden gardens throughout the city. Each are unique and some have opportunities like tea ceremonyes.

Hokutoh Pottery

Adjacent the D.T. Suzuki Museum and hidden Shofukaku Garden is the former Honda clan sword room-turned-pottery house, Hokutoh. Throw, mold and shape clay into a tea bowl or other dish, and select your colors for glazing. Hokutoh staff will dry and bake your creation for you.
